Maritime Hashtag Minute – Sunday 11th August 2024

Each week, Ben Hopkinson looks back at what’s happened the past 7 days and what was trending on Twitter with the Maritime Hashtag Minute. This week’s #MaritimeHashtagMinute was #NationalLighthouseDay. Observed annually on 7th August, it honours the beacon of light that for hundreds of years symbolized safety and security for ships and boats at sea. For #LighthouseDay we’re sharing this image of the South Gare Lighthouse in 1990

Originally built in 1884, it was planned and supervised by John Fowler who was engineer to the Tees Conservancy Commissioners
