Serious News
City Hall may miss a key environment target across London.

In his mission to try and put Londoners off from using cars – and instead use more environmentally friendly ways of transport – Khan’s deputy has announced.

The target, originally set in 2018, aims for 80% of all trips to be made via foot, bicycle or public transport by 2041. The interim target, destined for 2030 is set to be below its 69.3% aim according to City Hall officials.

The deputy mayor for transport, Seb Dance, spoke on Wednesday 10th July to the London Assembly saying: “The latest figure we have for London as a whole is 61.5%. Our target for 2030 is 69.3%, so closing that gap between then and now is the overarching priority that we have. We’re currently forecast to fall slightly short of that”.

Crazy News
Eight teenagers have broken a Guinness World Record completing the London Tube Challenge with one hour 56 minutes to spare.

Calling themselves the ‘Amersham Ambushers’, the 16 and 17 year-olds managed to visit all 272 Underground stations in 18 hours, 8 minutes and 32 seconds.

Beginning at Heathrow Terminal 5 and ending at Amersham, they had tried twice before in the alternate route.

Needing not to disembark off the train, or travel across the DLR or Elizabeth Line as they do not technically count as parts of the underground, they had to arrive at the newest stations which include Battersea Power Station and Nine Elms.

Even with luck not being on their side – with their first train lose power, being delayed by red signals and even losing a wallet – they achieved their goal.

Member Arthur said: "We had a little party to celebrate, and we are meeting with the previous record holder for lunch".

Happy News
After being diagnosed with a heart condition called aortic stenosis, Doreen Cooke defied her doctors and danced the night away at her granddaughter’s wedding.

After being told late last year that there was no operation or treatment that would help, she was told alongside her family to prepare for the worst, but the 93-year-old flew out to Marbella for the week-long celebrations.

27-year-old bride, Rhea Cross, says: "It was so wonderful having her there for the entire trip. Especially knowing the doctors didn’t think she’d make it. It feels so special for her to have seen it. She was living her best life all night. The life and soul of the party”.
