England teams preparations for Euro 2024
The England National football team under Gareth Southgate is preparing for the European Championships finals due to start next week in Germany on the 14th of June. Southgate has yet to finalize his final squad for the tournament but has already picked a provisional squad of 33 players which will then be whittled down to a 26-man squad for the finals in Germany. England played Bosnia and Herzegovina on Monday night at Newcastle United's ground St James' Park and picked up a 3–0 victory with the goals coming from Cole Palmer, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and captain Harry Kane from the penalty spot. England is due to play another warm-up game tomorrow (their last before the tournament finals) against Iceland who failed to qualify. England captain and talisman Harry Kane has already had a magnificent season at the club level individually (although trophyless with his club Bayern Munich) where he finished as both the top scorer in the German Bundesliga and Europe thereby winning the European Golden Boot. Kane became the first English player to win the European Golden Boot award since Kevin Philipps of Sunderland won the award during the 1999/2000 season.
England's likely squad will also contain other exciting talents who have done well this season such as FWA Footballer of the Year winner Phil Foden of Manchester City, Young Player of the Year Cole Palmer of Chelsea, Declan Rice, and Bukayo Saka of Arsenal, Ollie Watkins of Aston Villa, and Jude Bellingham of Real Madrid amongst others. Marcus Rashford of Manchester United was excluded entirely from even the provisional squad by manager Gareth Southgate due to his own individually poor season at club level whilst James Maddison of Tottenham Hotspur was another recent casualty by Southgate. England has been paired in a favourable group which they said qualify from alongside Serbia who they play first on the 16th of June, Denmark on the 20th of June, and Slovenia on the 25th of June. Recent bookmakers have put England amongst the favourites to win Euro 2024 ahead of other favored countries such as hots Germany and France.
