Busy weekend in London? TfL advises checking before you travel for Pride and other events!
Transport for London (TfL) advises travellers to plan this weekend as London gears up for the Pride in London Parade on Saturday, June 29th. Expect central London to be extra busy due to the parade and other events happening in the city.
Here's what you need to know:
- Most TfL services will run, but stations in central London, especially Oxford Circus, might be crowded with queues. Be prepared to wait to board.
- Due to road closures, some bus routes will be diverted or end short of their usual stops.
- Oxford Circus station may close unexpectedly on Friday and Saturday due to a strike.
- Southbound traffic on Blackwall Tunnel will be closed until Monday morning.
Planning Your Pride Journey:
- If you're participating in the parade, head to Bond Street, Hyde Park Corner, or Marble Arch stations.
- For watching the parade or attending events near Trafalgar Square or Soho, aim for Bond Street, Charing Cross, Embankment, Tottenham Court Road, Victoria, or Westminster stations.
- Be aware that some stations might be exit-only if they get too crowded.
TfL Celebrates Pride
This year's Pride theme, "Every Story Matters 2024: Spotlight on Volunteering," honours volunteers contributing to London's LGBTQ+ community. TfL staff and several LGBTQ+ groups are recognized through a photo exhibit at Vauxhall and Victoria stations.
TfL also collaborated with the London College of Fashion to design a costume for their parade float. Don't miss the reveal this weekend!
