Investigation Launched After Man and Woman Found Dead in Thamesmead

Officers are working to determine the circumstances, though the deaths are currently considered unexpected and unexplained.

An investigation is underway following the deaths of a man and woman at a property in Thamesmead, the Metropolitan Police have confirmed.

Emergency services were called to an address in Holstein Way shortly before 3:00 pm on Tuesday, 11 March, after concerns were raised for the welfare of the occupants. Upon gaining entry, officers discovered a man and woman with serious injuries. Tragically, both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Chief Superintendent Trevor Lawry, who oversees policing in Bexley, addressed local concerns, saying: “I know many residents in the area will be questioning why police are carrying out enquiries within Holstein Way. We are currently investigating the deaths of two people, which were unexpected and unexplained.

“At this early stage, we are working closely with officers and local authorities to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident. We believe the two individuals were known to each other, and at this time, we are not seeking to speak with anyone else in connection with the case.

“A crime scene will remain in place while we conduct our enquiries. I would like to thank local residents for their patience and cooperation.”

The next of kin of the deceased have been informed and are receiving support from specialist officers during this difficult time.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the deaths remain ongoing.
