A Met investigation into a domestic assault has led to the recovery of two firearms and a man being charged with firearms offences.
In the early hours of 3rd February, officers spotted a BMW car linked to a man who they wanted to trace in connection with an assault on a female in north-west London.
The car failed to stop for police. A bag was thrown from the car in Plough Way, SE16 and a short time later two people made off from the car on foot.
Although they managed to get away, a loaded firearm was safely recovered from the bag. Enquiries continued at pace and a search of an address in Lewisham on 16th February led to the recovery of a second loaded firearm.
