London mayor Sadiq Khan’s three-month trial of scrapping peak-time rail fares on Fridays will begin this week.
Pay as you go single fares will now be off-peak all day every Friday on Tube, DLR, London Overground, Elizabeth line, and some National Rail services across London and the southeast.
The trial will run every Friday, from 8 March until 31 May 2024 inclusive.

60+ London Oyster photocard and Older Person's Freedom Pass
During the trial, holders of 60+ London Oyster photocard and Older Person's Freedom Passes will be able to travel free between 04:30 and 09:00 on rail and bus services in London on Fridays.

Khan hopes that the cheaper fares will encourage more people to come into the city, “potentially supporting economic growth” by helping bars, restaurants and music venues. Increased passenger numbers could also help Transport for London (TfL), who have been struggling financially.
