Royal Greenwich residents vote for their favourite community projects to win a share of a £2 million neighbourhood improvement fund.
The Royal Borough of Greenwich is giving residents a chance to shape their neighbourhoods by voting for their favourite community projects in the sixth round of the Greenwich Neighbourhood Growth Fund.
Forty-three exciting proposals, dreamed up by residents and community groups, are vying for a share of the £2 million fund. From vibrant sensory gardens to park upgrades and digital inclusion initiatives, these projects aim to make a real difference in local areas.
"We want to create vibrant, inclusive communities where everyone thrives," says Councillor Anthony Okereke, Leader of the Council. "This fund empowers residents to tell us what matters most to them, and their votes will directly decide which projects get funded."
Councillor Aidan Smith, Cabinet Member for Regeneration, emphasizes the importance of community-led initiatives. "These projects understand the unique needs of each area," he says. "We're excited to see which ones resonate with residents and make a positive impact."
Voting is open until March 3rd, so don't miss your chance to have your say! Explore the shortlisted projects, choose your top three, and vote online. Remember, your vote counts!
Past projects funded through the Neighbourhood Growth Fund showcase its impact. Play centres received new windows, a hospice gained a sensory garden, and digital inclusion programs empowered residents. Parks, playgrounds, and even a community crèche were improved, benefiting residents of all ages.
Funding for these projects comes from the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL), which reinvests money from new developments back into local communities.
