Finalisation of Euro 2024 Group Stages

Completion of Euros Group Stage.

The European Championships Group Stage in Germany has reached its conclusion with all the groups having now completed their games and confirmation of all the teams who have gone through to the Round of 16 and those who have been knocked out. From Group A hosts Germany have gone through as group winners with Switzerland also qualifying for the next round as a result of finishing as runners-up while third-placed Hungary was knocked out as a result of them finishing as one of the worst third-placed teams with Scotland also being knocked out after finishing bottom. Group B (arguably the Group of Death) saw both Spain and Italy progress to the next round with Spain qualifying unbeaten as Group winners and holders Italy qualifying to the next round as runners-up. Croatia who finished 3rd in the group were knocked out as one of the worst 3rd placed teams in the group while Albania finished last. Group C was won by England who qualified unbeaten following a win and two draws and they were joined by Denmark and Slovenia who finished 2nd and 3rd respectively while Serbia were knocked out in last place. Group D saw Austria, France, and the Netherlands all qualify in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place respectively with Austria emerging as the surprise package whilst Poland was knocked out in bottom place. Group E saw Romania, Belgium, and Slovakia all qualify in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place respectively similar to Group D with Ukraine unluckily being knocked out despite all four nations finishing on four points (the only time a team has ever been knocked out on four points in the Euros Group Stage). Group F saw Portugal, Turkey, and Georgia all qualify for the knockout stages with the Czech Republic being knockout in last place. This all means that the Round of 16 fixtures which are to be played between Saturday 29th June 2024 and Tuesday 2nd July 2024 has Switzerland vs Italy, Germany vs Denmark, England vs Slovakia, Spain vs Georgia, France vs Belgium, Portugal vs Slovenia, Romania vs Netherlands, and Austria vs Turkey.
