Preview of UEFA Euro 2024 Final

Upcoming Euros Final between Spain and England in Berlin.

England and Spain are due to play one another in the 2024 European Championship Final later this evening with Spain looking to clinch their first major honour in 12 years and England looking to win the trophy for the first time and their first major honour since the 1966 World Cup. Spain has reached the final having come top of Group B finishing ahead of holders Italy. They then defeated Georgia 4–1 in the round of 16, hosts Germany 2–1 in the quarter-finals and France 2–1 in the semi-finals. England's route to the final included coming top of Group C ahead of Serbia, Denmark, and Slovenia before narrowly defeating Slovakia 2–1 after extra time, defeating Switzerland on penalties 5–3 having drawn the original game after 120 minutes 1–1 and the Netherlands 2–1 in the semi-finals. Critics have argued that England has reached the finals of the European Championships without having played particularly well although the opposite argument has also been made that a team that has gone as far as England has done without playing well is the sign of a great team. Spain goes into the final as favourites with the better players man for man compared to England and with most critics of the belief that Spain have been the best team in the competition so far in terms of how good their performances have been.
